In their pursuit of inspiring and supporting financial professionals through this challenging period, the Life Underwriters Association of the Philippines (LUAP) and Million Dollar Round Table Membership Communications Committee (MDRT MCC) Philippines brought the annual MDRT Day to its first virtual platform.
Held on October 6 and 7, 2021, the spirit of learning was very much alive among the XXX attendees—composed of current and aspiring MDRT members—who tuned in to the informative and empowering sessions of local and international speakers from the insurance industry and beyond.
This year’s theme, “Breakthrough: Breaking Barriers for a Better Tomorrow,” reflects a calling to be steadfast and innovative as financial advisors guide their clients towards a more secured future, while also working towards their personal goals. MDRT President Randy Scritchfield even redefined MDRT as “Members Determined to Respond Together.”
He expounded by saying, “Now is the time to demonstrate to all around us that we are the leaders of our profession, that we adhere to the strictest ethical standards, and we achieve excellence in productivity, knowledge, and most importantly, client service.”

The two-day online convention was a treasure trove of motivation and insights, and by listening with a teachable attitude, a lot can be gained from each session. Here are four key themes that have emerged from the talks:
- Career building talks went beyond business and practical tips, encouraging participants to broaden their mindsets in order to capture life-changing opportunities. Recognizing the indispensable value of the digital platform, sessions were also devoted to building a reliable brand and social media presence.

- Leadership talks showed speakers’ passion and humility in being of service to clients and their colleagues. The panel of South East MDRT MCC leaders brought out different perspectives about leadership and explored the “whole person” concept in dealing with all aspects of life.

- MDRT journeys provided inspiration especially for participants who have yet to attain the prestigious membership. Speakers were open about their experiences and shared lessons on how the audience can unleash their potential. France Zaguirre’s talk on “Achieving MDRT from Nothing to Everything” is an example of how strong determination can help one overcome both internal and external obstacles to success.

- Self-care remained a relevant topic amid the crisis situation and the financial advisors’ nature of work, having to look out for others all the time. Participants were treated to an invigorating yoga session, as well as talks that helped them take a step back and reflect about the bigger picture and their own future, and even retirement.
