Greetings from LUA Phils
In 2013, I was invited to join the association as a board of trustee. Being a newbie in this industry I was hesitant to accept the role. I feel that I still need to brush up on some skills to qualify for the nomination. Part of me was telling me to not accept the nomination yet, but a big part of me told me to give it a shot.
LUA Philippines opened up a lot of opportunities for me to discover myself. I spoke in front of hundreds of people during the MDRT echoing, I danced on stage to the tune of Dancing Queen during our 30th Anniversary, and I got the opportunity to meet new friends in the industry and from different companies. I use the hashtag #unitedcolorsofinsurance to describe our unity amidst diversity in the board. I also had the opportunity to meet significant people in our country and from different nationalities in the Asia Pacific Life Insurance Congress and Million Dollar Round Table meetings.
I used to think that joining the insurance industry will end my ties with friends and valued clients. I was wrong, joining LUAP made me realize that I can do lot of things that I never imagined doing. Now as we continue to set our goal to become a self-regulatory organization (SRO), we continue our efforts in providing learning sessions that will help in professionalizing our industry.
For the first quarter of the year, our membership fee has been lowered again to P500 from the original fee of P1,200 for renewing members. We have already conducted our FREE Sales Clinic which was attended by over 600b members. Moving forward this year, our activities in the pipeline include our SMS (Sales Mastery Series) and Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner (FChFP) classes in the 2nd quarter, MDRT Echoing, Philippine Life Insurance Congress and Certified Wealth Planner (CWP) sessions in the 3rd quarter.
LUAP Baguio and CDO Chapter already launched their respective activities contributing to the increase in the number of January 2018 Members as compare to January 2017. We will be reviving and organizing chapters like Ilo-ilo, Tacloban, Bacolod and Dumaguete.
This is also made possible through the commitment and dedication of the current board - Rachel C. Arimas, Karen K. Yulo, Joy Y. Go, Mark Joseph T. Fernandez, Francis Nico U. Serrano, Agnes H. Ng, Christine Paula L. Duran, Nellie Y. King, Josephine Go Biao Chua, Willison S. Yu, Pedro “Doods” E. Banton and Susan Estrella. Let me also thank the past presidents for their continued support to the organization especially to Sherry Ong, Emmanuel Paras, Janette Lee and Cecil De Mesa.
After 4 years of serving in LUA Philippines, I HAVE GROWN in this career. I HAVE LEARNED from people whom clients would often refer to as my competitors. I HAVE EXPANDED my horizon, and continue to WORK for a purpose and LOVE the plan that God sets.
This 2018, let us “expand our knowledge, improve our skills and create lasting friendship with other financial advisors.”
2018 LUAP National President
